Mystic Dan
Muth
Seize The Grey
et al?
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Doesn’t Baffert have 2 for that race?

Why run two when one will do :)

Ha!

Imagination? Is that the other.

I actually think Stronghold and Fierceness would do better at the Preakness.

Still need to actually dig into the race, but my instinct at the moment is that the pace was quicker than it looked, and a horse like Track Phantom could be live in the Preakness. Or Resilience? Resilience would be irresistable in the Preakness.

I hope Thorpedo Anna goes; she's a good horse, and it would generate a lot of interest.

I have my doubts Seize the Grey runs. In our owners update awhile ago mrh indicated that they aren't ready to commit. They want to see how he recovers. And they tried running him back on two weeks rest in the bluegrass. He ran the worst race of his career

I really hope STG doesn't go. He found his niche as a miler; no need to throw him into a TC race just because they can. He ran very poorly off short rest before, too.

“We’re not committed to the Preakness,” McPeek said Sunday on the morning after Mystik Dan got his nose down at the wire for the narrowest of wins in Kentucky Derby 2024. “I ran him back once in two weeks, and it completely backfired on me.”

Except for the rare horse or two that really thrive on activity, nobody that went yesterday should probably go to the Preakness. Horses aren’t trained that way nowadays. I’m guessing Mystik Dan will end up going, just ‘cuz but he’d probably be better off going in that new 10f Travers prep at Saratoga in five weeks.

Derby News
@KentuckyDerbyCJ
On first glance, it appears Mystik Dan is the only horse from the Kentucky Derby being considered for the Preakness on May 18 at Pimlico.

So besides the Baffert horses, who are the new shooters? Local horses?

I hate that we now have to second guess if the Derby winner will even go to the Preakness.

I also hate that the Derby winner is the only Derby runner to go to the Preakness.

We need some of the Australian trainers who run their horses in 3 G1s in 3 weeks in the Spring and Autumn Carnivals to come in and provide some insight.

Guess not even the new bonus with the Preakness / California Crown / Pegasus can lure people to run
