Fandroll just relayed news that Deterministic is out of the Derby. We need the new leaderboard posted here, because I can't remember who gets in now.

Guys I have finished my Derby hat and also my fascinator for Oaks day. Actually, I may have to touch up the fascinator this weekend because it is more complicated. Got all my stuff from Target, Dollar Tree, Hobby Lobby, and stuff I already had. Some of the feathers I used for my fascinator were found on the floor at the theatre I'm working with now Don't worry I cleaned them with steam, not that they were dingy. It's starting to feel real now...
But I've not been as closely following the trail this year like I normally do. Just have been too busy/distracted.

Dads flying in from out of state to join us for the Derby and Oaks. It's gonna be awesome. Stepmom and her kid is also coming. The whole circus is attending!

Interesting article on West Saratoga’s trainer Larry Demeritte from the Bahamas. Only second Black trainer to run a horse in the Derby. https://www.courier-journal.com/story/s ... 333515007/

And Whit Beckman confirms that Ben Curtis will retain the mount on Honor Marie for Derby 150.

Glad to hear it, thanks! He may not have experience in the Derby, but he has ridden in many huge races, like the Epsom Darby ... I don’t think the moment will scare him; I didn’t feel comfortable with a new jockey on HM for ghr Derby

How does it work, if Kentucky Derby.com has already removed them from the leaderboard, can they go back on if they change their mind?

I honestly have no idea! My instinct says that it's all for show, and surely horses have moved back onto the list in the past, but I can't think of any specific examples.CoronadosQuest wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 5:25 pmHow does it work, if Kentucky Derby.com has already removed them from the leaderboard, can they go back on if they change their mind?
Hades is already in the running for "Worst-Managed Horse 2024," but he'd be a cinch if they changed course again :/
Wonder if MRH has said anything about Seize the Grey? Surely they wouldn't go for it... would they?

CDI removed Manama Gold from the Oaks and she is pointing at it. If she pops back on then they add them back. She is back on there today and so it someone else...I just don't know who. Yesterday Our Pretty Woman was 14th but now its 16th.CoronadosQuest wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 5:25 pmHow does it work, if Kentucky Derby.com has already removed them from the leaderboard, can they go back on if they change their mind?

When will the Friday and Saturday races be drawn this year? I never can remember which day before the Oaks/Derby that they do the post position draws. And do they draw the Friday and Saturday cards the same day, or will the Friday races be drawn a day before the races on Saturday?
I'm sorry. I just don't remember the normal protocols for that. TIA!

Seems like a lot of tracks have moved towards earlier draws lately, I swear some of the preps were drawn a week in advance too. Not sure it benefits the horses or horsemen at all (more pressure to make a decision sooner), but it's sure nice for the handicappers.
Will be an interesting draw this year. There's potentially a lot of speed, and Fierceness would not benefit from drawing inside of everyone. Meanwhile, probably the most crucial draw in the race is Forever Young- hates kickback and doesn't have a ton of positional speed, so he needs an outside draw or he's likely in for some trouble.

Seize the grey: mrh said its unlikely and he's nominated to the pat day mile BUT they did say if he drew into the derby field via multiple defections that "lukas would not be afraid to consider it"Tessablue wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 5:38 pmI honestly have no idea! Anyone old enough to remember Toccet (foaled 2000 with a very vociferous owner)--talented colt but so misplaced that his name on this forum might as well have been "Poor Toccet."Tessablue wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 5:38 pmI honestly have no idea! I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.
