I wouldn't be surprised either. One would think the horse proved with the bluegrass he isn't capable of running back on two weeks rest and running well. But this is lukas we're talking about

I've seen people say that now that seize the Grey is targeting the pat day mile. If both AE horses draw into the Derby then they'll never buy another microshare horse through mrh. I wasn't involved with mrh during the authentic era so I can't remember if peoples emotions were this charged.CoronadosQuest wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2024 10:42 amSame. Not with MRH partnering with 1/ST. I think they will want to be represented that day.
I've also seen people say mrh will never again have a derby horse UNLESS baffert is training the horse..which I think is a ridiculous statement since mrh also has horses with Pletcher and asmussen

Authentic was basically already guaranteed to get into the Derby by the time that he was offered. They bought into him right before he ran in the Haskell (G1), so he had already won the Sham Stakes (G3), San Felipe Stake (G2) and ran 2nd in the Santa Anita Derby (G1). I was already a huge fan of Authentic and bought into him for that reason aloneTapitsGal wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2024 8:59 pmI've seen people say that now that seize the Grey is targeting the pat day mile. As @TapitsGal has mentioned the Facebook Owners group for Seize the Grey has been non-stop about the Derby AEs and now the jockey pick. Thankfully, the issue has been essentially laid to rest as of this post since if he had been entered he would still be an AE. I'm still not convinced Seize the Grey measures up among top level competition. But as @Flanders pointed out, if he runs any kind of decent I bet Lukas will run him in the Preakness.
@TapitsGal I would say with Forbidden Kingdom, the derby Fever was squashed pretty fast and there was just less debate overall as he came up injured right after the San Felipe. People were disappointed, but not this obnoxious for sure. For Authentic, the horse was already a proven multiple GSW-and then proceeded to do phenomenally afterward which really kept people from being over enthusiastic. Nevertheless, when he finished 2nd in the Preakness the whining was also pretty incredible.
Phantom Ride. The poor guy doesn't get a whole lot of love lol. Anyway, he's entered against the full brother to Kanthari and Affable Monarch (half to Force the Pass)

One less zero (0.008%) but yeah. That's nothing.CoronadosQuest wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2024 10:46 amI am really gunshy about MRH's new model of doing shares. Also this one seems like its very small? 0.0008% or something someone said.

Nope but hopefully that'll shut up all the people on his owners group who were bitching about this being the wrong distance for him and him not having Mike Smith or irad on him..I'm soo proud of my boy right nowBaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2024 2:51 pm Seize the Grey won the Pat Day Mile. I did too. I was shaking so hard too. I really thought he was cooked when he was with the speed, I was so happy when Jamie backed off of the pace. But wow my adrenaline was THROUGH THE ROOF. My neighbors think Im nuts, I know it.

Y’all aren’t the only ones…man alive, an absolutely beautiful and wonderful horse. Admittedly, I still can’t believe he did it. Ecstatic.

I'm at a state meet, being a judge and I'm so glad I was in a room by myself, or I would have had a ton of high schoolers looking at me weird.CoronadosQuest wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2024 3:23 pmI did too.
