2yo Tariff Line (Satono Diamond) was euthanized after suffering fractures to his pelvis coming into the stretch in the Gr. I Hopeful Stakes.

Though Tariff Line had been pulled up in the home straight, the JRA announced that he had suffered injuries to both his iliac bones (pelvis). [...] Rest in peace.

Shame, I always thought he was a pretty horse and talented. He has to have had one of the strangest stallion careers. Starting out at 50k(2001), his stud fee rose to 100k(2006/2008), hit an all time high of 125k(2007), then the plummet started and was standing for 17.5k(2010), going as low at 8k(2013) before he was sold. I can't think of any other stallion that rose to 100k+ off of success, stood for that long(14 years) and then was deemed a failure in Kentucky.

He was really beautiful. I will always remember him as the sire of "The Green Monkey" who sold for $16m.. never won a race.. :geek: He was beautiful just like his sire.

I envision a Prometheus-style curse, where every hour an angry herd of Celestial Horses stampedes over his body, breaking all his bones. The Harpies can tear out his liver next.
Then repeat the next hour.

TRUTH.

A federal judge ruled there was insufficient evidence to prove that Lundy was responsible for Alydar’s death—but the stallion’s breeding schedule was inhumane enough. Lundy used Alydar as a 24/7 sperm ATM in order to (temporarily) hold all his creditors at bay.

I prefer to think of Alydar walking up silently and double-barreling Lundy in the head.
