Erhaab was a lovely horse both in terms of ability and conformation. How wonderful that he made it to the ripe old age of 30.

Dobune (Deep Impact x Premier Steps, by Footstepsinthesand) is registered black. He's the most expensive juvenile to sell in Japan, is an ungraded stakes winner, and is a favorite for the Asahi Hai Futurity.

Other than being a bit hip-high (not unusual in a yearling), he is very handsome.
I love seeing Wild Again as his damsire. That horse won the famous three-way photo in the first BC Classic through sheer will.

Sadly Chivalryisnotdead is a 3 year old filly  I don't think the hip is going to fix itself a ton at this point.

Chivalryisnotdead sold for $39,000.

I also love seeing Wild Again as the damsire, and the first dam, Taste the Passion, did earn blacktype and has produced three stakes winners who have in turn have had some luck producing stakes winners. There's a video of Chivalryisdead here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlPpHzx6hEw (I love black horses with white markings!)

Pintamos El Cielo (Fantasmagorico x Taste II, by Gone West) is registred dark bay, but I think he should be blk/br. Winner of this race is Sunny California (by California Chrome).

He has obvious brown highlights on his muzzle and flanks. Still pretty though!

Genuine question, which countries use the 'blk/brn' descriptor in their registers? I've never seen a 'blk/brn' in the US, at least not in the past 50 years, typically they are black or dkb/b (dark bay/brown). To me the above horse would be dkb/b if it were in the US.

Found an old picture of one of the black thoroughbreds we had (Europe), Taldari was his name.

I don't have an answer to which ones, but the combined terms are as foolish as them using grey/roan as a registration option.
A horse can't be both black and 'brown', and technically there is no brown, they are dark bay. If course, most registries are not particularly accruate at registering colours...

I've seen blk/br used for horses that are jet black...except for their muzzles occasionally.

I mean Europe will register black horses as pretty much anything but
