I wouldn't be surprised if he gets the WinStar treatment either. Unethical.
i say this so much it's probably getting old but it bothers me seeing people mostly only complain about on track abuse/overworking, as if what these farms do isn't abuse too. i'm convinced with time some stallions begin to actually hate their jobs.

Good to see that even though Danni got the boot here, she is still commenting whack stuff on official farm posts, like Coolmore Australia's facebook release about Justify.

on Twitter she keeps spamming anyone who mentions Justify with stuff like "i hope he ends up like his sire" and "should be dog food". plus saying she wishes horses like Fierceness die in the Kentucky Derby. glad she is staying classy!

Short career because of greedy owners, overbreeding because of greedy stud farms, shadows over his record because of systemic problems with racing jurisdictions. I was frankly hoping he would be a bust at stud because nobody involved with the horse deserves to be rewarded for the way they've treated him, but none of it is his fault. I hope any fertility problems are natural, not the result of what they've done to him, and I hope he gets a chance to be a horse at some point in his life.
This needs to be pasted EVERYWHERE. Even worse is that he is in the Hall of Fame now.
There's an alternate world out there in which Accelerate was voted HOTY in 2018 instead. Is it a better world? Impossible to say. But it's a different one.

I didn’t realize Justify had fertility problems? Is that why they are not shuttling him anymore? Do you have a link to an article that says that? Thanks!

Summer Bird works at a breeding farm in Kentucky I believe, so I don’t think that specific intel will be found in any publications. Of all the stud farms, Coolmore isn’t going to calling Bloodhorse for a press release on the fertility management of their Golden Goose.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's because they are overbreeding him. Give him a break...

Gross. That is a form of torture. No wonder the stallions have issues.

He’s been struggling getting mares in foal this year so I wonder if that’s part of the reason also.
Interesting - has it been said if it's a fertility issue or a performance problem?
i think it hasn't been "said", but Summer Bird works in a breeding farm so that's why she knows. i think.
People in the horse industry love to talk . But what I got from what I’ve heard is it’s fertility

I'm honestly upset that the JC backed down and ran the other way with proposing the rule on limiting mares covered by stallions per year. Shame on the farms that were totally against that idea. Laoban's situation was more likely scratching the surface of what is really going on behind the scenes with some of these places. I would not be surprised if there are more stallions getting injectable concoctions to ensure they can handle the absurd demand.

Oh I'm fully confident that Summer Bird knows what she's talking about. :)
I was just curious if it's more of an Early Voting thing where he has the fertility but not the physical capability or if it's a situation where he has the physical capability but not the fertility. Just nerdy curiosity.

The farms I recall that balked at the cap are ones whose stallions have massive books generally. So of course they didn't want to lose money on there cash cows.

As for Laoban I lost any respect for winstar after that, especially when the decided to keep that vet on staff. A vet who in my opinion should've lost there license. I wouldn't be shocked if other stallions are getting similar treatment either. Makes me wonder if something like that shot was what did Pioneer in.

I honestly think that WinStar kept that vet on staff because WinStar were the ones who gave the directive to give Laoban the shot. I know I sound conspiratorial, but if they told the vet to just take the fall publicly and say it was all her idea in exchange for them defending her and her getting to keep her job, it makes sense (to me at least).

Why else would you keep someone who killed one of your assets on the payroll?

That is honestly the most logical and probable explanation as to why she is kept on-hand. WinStar employee trying to play veterinarian became Dr. Kevorkian instead.

I would bet money they said "give him b12 and whatever else you think would help" instead of just the "give him b12" like they tried to say. They knew they were at fault. That one article from when the insurance company said we aren't paying that claim, made it sound like Winstar had paid out money for people who owned shares.

As to the JC situation, they really backed down once the state of Kentucky got involved. They didn't seem like they were that worried about the farms. But then Kentucky passed a law making it illegal to limit stallion books in their state and said that Kentucky would start their own Thoroughbred registry. Kentucky couldn't have just started their own Thoroughbred registry, there are International Studbook rules about that but doesn't matter cause the JC folded. I just don't think the JC wanted to face a state.

I'll Have Another is very friendly but can nip. Not severely enough for him to be in "time out" like Bellamy Road.

We walked up to meet Lava Man and Little Mike, and when the guide said "Lava Man escorted IHA," IHA had his head lowered but immediately looked up and pricked his ears. I had been watching IHA from a distance and caught this.

I turned around to see Milwaukee Brew "blepping" at me. He's a good boy.

Daaher bites.
