IIRC, interviews after the race blamed how much water was sitting in large, reflecting puddles right in front of the gate. Thunder Snow probably felt like he was being asked to dive into water that could have been too deep for him. He said "I'm not a Sea Horse, I am NOT running through that!"

The Amazing Webslinger almost gave me another huge thrill on Derby day! Moved a little too soon but was clearly not as good as the top two. Exciting race.

Some weirdness with I'm Very Busy at the gate, hopefully he comes out of the race okay.

Odd call by Collmus who seemed fixated on I’m Very Busy even when it was clear he was flattening out after a middle move around the turn. Almost missed the leaders but did get there in the end. Winner is a nice horse and Chad having a good day.

I noticed that too. For like 15 seconds coming into the stretch, the only horse he was talking about was I’m Very Busy.

I agree. I was annoyed. It was obvious that I'm Very Busy was hanging, IMO. I know he was the heavy favorite but geez, maybe pay attention to the horses that actually have a shot?

It’s getting a bit muggy, so several horses getting hosed down before walking over. So they may not be sweaty/hot with nerves if they’re wet. #KyDerby

Sidenote: I really would hate to see a horse while watching this. I prefer my horse-racing to be all talking heads telling me how smart they are by picking the 5/2 shot.....

Program Trading picked up his 3rd G1. He’s a sneaky good horse.

I have learned about bourbon and pastel fashion but very few post race interviews at all. I did enjoy the Larry D West Saratoga segment- would be great if he could finish top 5 but not la high probability.

I am so tired of them only talking about Fierceness or Sierra Leone. I understand they are the favorites but I want to hear about someone else now.

They look great!

Realizing as post draw draws closer that I want Fierceness to win and prove people wrong. Would love to see some real star power come out of this race, and he's just a neat chill horse. Lots of cool horses in it, though. And I love the fact that the two favorites are complete opposites in almost every way... I think Sierra Leone could eat Fierceness for breakfast.
