Thanks for posting the full field! Really interesting draw. Need time to think it over, but Sierra Leone in post 2 is an interesting dilemma. Yes, he probably drops into the lane and saves ground as Dornoch guns it to the lead... but in previous races he has always closed on the outside. Chad Brown mentioned that he has more speed than you might expect- does Gaffalione drop him back further than planned in to in order to avoid hitting traffic?

FanDrool just announced that PP 17 has never won the Derby ( Fierceness). Not a great draw for Dorsch (1) and Sierra Leone (PP 2) who will need to suck back and somehow get to the outside for the stretch run without going 15 wide. Maybe he can save ground though and will be further from the grandstand crowd which may help with his gate issues. My live long shot is Honor Marie who drew well in post 7.

Is T O Password a front runner? Dornoch is gonna have to go pedal to the metal to get to the lead since he absolutely does squat if he doesn't get to the lead and doesn't seem to like kick back at all.

Good point about the crowd and Sierra Leone. Could be a blessing in disguise, although he'll still have to run the gauntlet to get there.Squeaky wrote: ↑Sat Apr 27, 2024 7:45 pm FanDrool just announced that PP 17 has never won the Derby ( Fierceness). So much to consider... Track Phantom drew outside the other speed, but how does blinkers on impact things? Could absolutely melt things down if he ends up gunning it to outrun everyone else, not to mention a potential Palace Malice scenario...
My weird longshot is Society Man, but the reasoning for it is not rational. Post 20 seems about right for him.
He has only raced twice, but so far yes. Track Phantom will also send, and probably Encino as well. Just a Touch wants to be up there, Fierceness will be close on the outside, should be a lot of pace.CoronadosQuest wrote: ↑Sat Apr 27, 2024 7:49 pm Is T O Password a front runner? But! You truly never know in this race. It's possible that everyone sees Dornoch in post 1 and concedes to him. Who knows!

As for the undercard races... I really thought Knightsbridge would be in the Pat Day Mile. He just worked so well at CD too! Wonder where he is being pointed.

I own a share in seize the Grey so I'll be watching the pat day mile. Many in his group are convinced he doesn't belong in the pat day mile and are convinced it's a tougher field than the derby. They feel he should've stayed as an AE for the derby..my opinion is that if you don't feel he belongs in a grade 2 stakes then why on earth do you think he belongs on the ae list for a grade 1 with a bigger field and the best 3 year olds in the country currently? But I think it's just a case of people suffering from derby letdown. At least here it's a smaller field and there's a chance he picks up a check even if he runs third again.
Lukas has named Jamie Torres as the rider. I like that Lukas seems very loyal to giving young riders a chance. I know people feel like a bigger name jock should be riding him. Some people were hoping Mike Smith would be on him since Mike rode arrogate. Mike has never ridden seize the grey

I really hate how NBC feed doesn't even talk about the fields of these undercard stakes

The track looks a LOT better than yesterday. The surface should be fair for much of the undercard, but there are worries that afternoon thunderstorms will pop up and soak Churchill.

Heard an NBC presenter say that drinks were free? I find that surprising considering how money hungry CDI is, and also kind of awful- boy will there be a lot of drunks. Maybe they figure they will bet more if tipsy and it’s all about the handle.

I love when trainers like Cherie win big races So proud of her.
On a different note... wow Xpressbet is down. WTF. What terrible timing.
