Assuming he was bidding through the rep in the white shirt, I think he did indeed go up to nine just as he said he would.

He just tweeted this:

@jstewartrr
Mission accomplished. I said before that my goal was for the filly to stay in Australia. Congratulations to
@DKepitis
and everyone in Australia!

The winx filly is right where she belongs. ❤️❤️

I hope I played a small part in discouraging some of the international players out of the auction.

And I hope everyone had as much fun as I did. I am already looking to my next pick….
I've seen like three of this guy's tweets and I'm already sick of him, lol. But idk if I would have watched without all of the hype, so... can't complain too much.

Yeah there are a couple owners that are just best to avoid their tweets. But hey if he actually stays in the sport and its not just a brief interest, and he keeps buying mares to stay in the US, I wont complain too much. I will probably still complain sometimes. :lol:

Breeders probably hoping these 2 + Zedan get in some bidding battles this year.

JS must realize these breeders just using him to get high bids on their horses while they laugh all the way to the bank.

"you should know all about having to buy back your own horse at an inflated value" dude, buddy, my guy, who do you think inflated the value...?

Ultimately there's far worse things that billionaires can do with their time and money, but it's all very silly.

So since he was just in Australia for Storm Boy's race, maybe Imperatriz? Or maybe Inspiral? Idk if Cheveley Park would sell Inspiral but I suppose most horses have a price.
I wouldn't think that you are right.
If you come to Japan, you will get their mares.

He bought into Didia. Don't know if this is the one he was talking about or not.

I mean, I guess she would count... right? She isn't what I was expecting though.

Yeah but he said he couldn't talk about the new purchase until the end of the month, so that was why I don't know. I have a feeling he is going to be buying into a lot of horses. Like the new Sol Kumin, in on every horse. ;)

He is starting a new fight with Repole this morning. Can't wait til Repole wakes up.

Also pretty sure he tried to buy into Sierra Leone and didn't succeed.

Didn't he pose with Auguste Rodin and say something along the lines of "the people at Coolmore drive a hard bargain"? Assume he tried to buy into him as well.
"until you go to Kentucky and with your own eyes behold the Derby, you ain't never been nowhere and you ain't seen nothing!"

I think he was talking about Sierra Leone there cause he had previously said he was trying to buy into a 2nd Kentucky Derby horse. He next said the Coolmore hard bargain thing. Then he posted wasn't happening because it was impossible to get so many partners to agree on something. He did say he bought Auguste Rodin then said just joking and said Caravel would be bred to him next year.

It's great to see the interest he has in this exact moment... but honest question, what runs out first, his money or his enthusiasm? I'm not sure his net worth, but when you see operations like Padua Stables and Adena Springs burn through hundreds of millions of dollars in 10-15 years and then shutter... or Qatar Racing and Besilu Stables having to do major restructuring and downsizing after a brief window of very splashy auction purchases... or Regis Stables and Conquest Stables, where the principals simply get bored and move on. It's a tale as old as time.

If any podcast folks are on here, on this week's episode of The Owner's Box they interview John Stewart. Lots of interesting tidbits, including how he has already bought the property next to the 850 acres he already purchased from Shadwell. He intends to build a world class training facility there and to have a Ballydoyle style private trainer, though will also continue to use some outside trainers.

In September he had 1 one horse, he now has 32 broodmares, and around 120 horses total.

Yeah I hope he doesn't burn out fast. Sure he can be annoying, who can't, but any owner willing to support horse racing is good. My main worry is boredom. He went from nothing to trying to compete at the top of the sport with a ton of horses super fast. On another note, I saw he replied to someone and said they love having visitors come see the horses at the farm, so that is really nice. Don't know how someone would contact them to make an appointment but he loves to tweet so would probably answer if anyone was interested.

If I heard correctly, someone on Fandrool said he made a $10,000 donation to the PDJF during Sunday's telethon.
