imho, he's not the worst stallion prospect we've seen. He is a Kentucky Derby winner, he's a nice-looking horse, and he brings a hefty dose of the potent Smart Strike bloodline.

If he’s going to stand in Ohio for $2k maybe. Not every horse should breed. I remember before his TC foray, California Chrome was this cheaply bred colt created on the dime of two dumba$$es. After the bloom was long off the Derby roses I start hearing about how well bred he really is. All horses are well bred if you look back far enough. We once went round and round on here debating the exceptionality of Rich Strike’s sire. No true consensus was reached and we agreed to disagree. As a stallion we can probably agree he’s not exceptional. I think a good comp in a lot of ways to Rich Strike is Giacomo. I saw in the WTBOA newsletter, the other day, Giacomo was bred to one mare this year. So while many have expressed interest in breeding with Sting, not so his son.

See with the owner Rich had thats something I don't think will stick. I have a feeling that the minute Mott suggests something Dawson doesn't like Rich will be shuffled again to someone else

Last I heard which was 6+ months ago he had received stem cell therapy for bilateral suspensory problems and was recovering at a farm. Not sure if the treatment helped or if it had to be repeated as part of a course of therapy. So far no more updates that I could find. The plan was to send him to Bill Mott if he recovered but seems like a long way off -if ever. Likely needs gelding and retiring.
