Well, he has four more mounts today, so imho seven is very possible. Even eight might be.
Go Frankie.

Had to happen, I guess...Dettori finally loses a race. Appeared to finish a very close 3rd in the Monrovia.

Trainer Tom Albertrani has retired. He always seemed like one of the good guys to me.

Seems like he could be a great mentor to some younger trainers at Tampa- hope he gets that opportunity

Kota Fujioka, age 35, has died after suffering severe injuries in a mid-race fall at Hanshin April 6, the Japan Racing Association has announced. The grade 1-winning jockey, who won 803 races in Japan, sustained head and chest injuries after being unseated in the seventh race and died in a hospital.

Trainer Fee When Horse Sold Argued in KY Supreme Court
https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing ... reme-court
The dispute revolves around a sale of multiple graded stakes winner Daddys Lil Darling . According to oral arguments held April 11 and briefs filed by attorneys, following the death of Normandy Farm's Nancy Polk, who campaigned Daddys Lil Darling using trainer Ken McPeek's services, Polk's daughters immediately arranged for the filly to be sold at the 2018 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Mixed Sale. After Coolmore's M.V. Magnier purchased Daddys Lil Darling for $3.5 million, McPeek sent an invoice for $175,000, or 5% of the sale price, for developing Daddys Lil Darling while in his care. Polk's heirs rejected the invoice.

It's extremely sad, especially coming on the heels of the death of Cherchi.

Yeah, McPeek wasnt directly involved in the sale, but the horse wouldnt have been worth $3.5million if he hadnt train her to stakes winning performances. It’s a shitty move by the Polk heirs. The amount of trainers/grooms/horse related staff that get stiffed by clients who simply refuse to pay bills they deem unacceptable is mind boggling. It happens at our farm at least once a year.

Frankie Dettori just won the G1 Jenny Wiley at Keeneland...on the longest shot (25 to 1), by going to the front and improving their position.
Beaute Cachee (FR)(Literato [FR]) just spanked a bunch of more-favored mares. Guess we should give more respect to the other, other, other Chad Brown entrant.

Charlie Appleby will have a regular season at Saratoga this year, keeping 12-15 horses based there.
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

What a legend. His association with Goldikova has got to be the highlight.

Also, I feel like the ever encroaching Racing Post paywall now covers 98% of their content. Putting a retirement announcement behind a paywall is next level. I’m going to have to subscribe… eventually.

I think £30 a month for their basic package is ridiculous.

Peslier is a giant. Aside from his association with Goldikova, he won three straight Arcs and three straight Arima Kinens.

Female jockey Sofia Vives just won her 5th race of the day at Woodbine! Her first 4
wins were on pretty short prices, but this last one was 13/1!

WOW!!

P.S.: And I had $10 to win on her! Double Wow!!💥

Owner/ trainer Tim Martin, who killed Tyler's Tribe by failing to retire him after multiple bouts of severe bleeding, has had all of his Oaklawn entries scratched pending an investigation: https://twitter.com/OaklawnRacing/statu ... 6437563834

The tweet mentions a second horse, Collins, whom Equibase has racing under a different trainer. Unclear of the relation between them, but hopefully this move saves some equine lives.

I hope it just makes HISA change the year rule and have the new rule just be incidents per lifetime. This horse should have been retired. He clearly wasn't going to stop bleeding, he was bleeding through lasix constantly. If being banned from working/racing for 6 months didn't help him, then the 30 days since the last incident weren't going to help either. They had to wait an extra couple weeks though cause he had a bleeding incident from 4/29/23 that they needed to get past. Then he'd be back down to 1 incident so he'd only get 30 days again when he bled next. Unfortunately he just died instead.

Someone said his breeder had been trying to get him back to retire him but the greedy ass owners/trainer refused.
