Wudda U Think Now, 6, died of colic

Wudda U Think Now, a four-time stakes-winning New York-bred gelding, died several weeks ago due to complications from colic, trainer Rudy Rodriguez confirmed. He was 6.

Rodriguez said the horse developed colic about 10 days after he finished fourth in the Haynesfield Stakes at Aqueduct on Feb. 20.

Rodriguez said Wudda U Think Now was shipped to New Bolton Center in Kennett Square, Pa., when he first developed colic and a few days later he began to founder, which led to his being euthanized.

“It was very, very hard for the whole barn,” said Rodriguez, who trained Wudda U Think Now for owner Stuart Grant. “He was a nice-looking horse who always tried. [Grant] already had a home for him if he was going to be retired.”

Wudda U Think Now, by Fast Anna, won three stakes in 2022 including the Hollie Hughes, John Morrissey and Alex M. Robb. He began this year with a victory in the Say Florida Sandy Stakes in January before his fourth in the Haynesfield.

Wudda U Think Now had a career record of 9-4-2- from 21 starts and earned $564,750.
