I remember him as he was a grandson of my first favorite, T.V. Lark.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

He was living proof a good horse can come from anywhere. After setting that WR at Turf Paradise, I still got pretty decent odds on him when he won the Hollywood Turf Express. Trained by Blake Heap?

I was hoping you two would chime in. He sounds like he was a real runner.

His sire Zanthe was the TV Lark to which Diver alluded. Zanthe was raced early on by W.R. Hawn, of Vigors fame. I seem to remember that Zanthe, a middle to long distance turf horse with an inclination to win his races on the front end, was claimed away from Hawn by Bobby Frankel for Marty Ritt, the TV producer. Under Hawn’s colors, Zanthe had been plugging away running relatively cheap on the dirt. Frankel—who never though he saw a horse he couldn’t move up—saw Zanthe’s breeding and figured he was worth a shot as a turf horse. Frankel was right as Zanthe ended up running and winning in several stakes events.

8yo Lord North, one of my favorite horses in training, goes for his fourth consecutive win in the Dubai Turf at Meydan tomorrow. Frankie Dettori has the ride again.

That's a tragedy regarding Catnip, but it was otherwise quite a good day for geldings in Dubai.
