Sugar Kun(JPN), a Duramente 3yo 1/2 brother to Kitasan Black, won the G2 Aoba Sho 2400m turf at Tokyo under Yutaka Take on April 27th 2024.
Like Kitasan Black, he is trained by Hisashi Shimizu.
He will be headed to the G1 Japanese Derby next.

brunanas wrote: Wed Apr 24, 2024 8:05 pm does anyone know what Into Amore (Into Mischief - Embellish the Lace) looked like as a yearling? i didn't know she had RNA'd for so "cheap" ($295,000) until a TDN article pointed that out. you'd expect much more from an Into Mischief out of a G1w winning mare, no...? i could only find stuff for her year older full sister on Twitter. that sister sold for $1,250,000 the year prior, so that kinda tells me she either looked... too Into Mischief-y... or had a shitty vetting.

and she was also the only Embellish the Lace foal to not sell well.
and she was a late vet scratch from what was supposed to be her career debut on Thursday.

3f Run Away, a full sister to MG1W Blackbeard (No Nay Never x Muirin), won her debut today at Yarmouth. From Racing Post:

"The Andrew Balding-trained Run Away is meanwhile a No Nay Never full-sister to Prix Morny and Middle Park Stakes winner turned Coolmore sire Blackbeard. She was signed for by Richard Knight for a sale-topping €2.6 million at Goffs Orby in 2022 but was resold privately after the agent’s client didn’t pay and now represents a partnership of David Howden, Qatar Racing and Ecurie des Monceaux."

Batten Down (Tapit x Close Hatches), the 3yo full brother to Tacitus, absolutely dominated the 4th at Churchill, a 1 1/4-mile, $120,000 MSW on the dirt. He went to the front and then increased the lead to win by what looked like double digits.
He looks like a serious horse.

Clever name! Is he gray or bay?

He's grey, and pretty leggy for a Tapit. He is still a bit green (was eyeballing the grandstand all the way down the stretch), so he could get even better.

Delighted to read this. I was a fan of Tacitus and his younger brother looks every bit a runner.

Spirit of St. Louis won the Danger's Hour Stakes on April 20th at Aquaduct. I didn’t see it mentioned here.

Full brother to Breeder’s Cup champ Bar of Gold, dam is GSW Khancord Kid. This is his third straight stakes win and first start of the year. He’s turned into a nice horse!

Mystic Pleasure (Good Magic x Disposable Pleasure) won an allowance at Churchill today. Her second race back after having a year off after breaking her maiden (not sure what happened to her). Disposable Pleasure was Giacomo's best filly (maybe best foal), horrible name to give a filly I think though....

Castlewarden (Into Mischief x Calm Water), the full brother to Dubai World Cup winner Laurel River, is about to run in the 6th at Churchill, a 7 1/2-furlong Allowance for 3yo+up on the dirt. He is facing a small but quality field, including Shopper's Revenge (Tapit x Stopchargingmaria) and Classic Legacy (Into Mischief x Distorted Legacy).
ETA: Castlewarden and Classic Legacy dueled down the stretch, with Castlewarden just getting his nose in front. Good race between two classy Into Mischief sons.
