Our beloved John Shear passed away yesterday peacefully of natural causes at 102.
He had that smile and happiness til the end.
John had a remarkable life with love for family and dedication to work that made such a positive impact on so many
He will forever be in our hearts.

A remarkable, humble and gracious representative of the greatest generation. Sorry to lose such a legendary figure, but my oh my, what a wonderful life that touched so many.

About 14 years ago he let me into the saddling paddock at Hollywood Park (it might have been Gold Cup day or maybe Zenyatta was running) so I could put flowers on Native Diver's grave. A wonderful man.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.
