Newbury’s Super Saturday meeting was abandoned after two horses collapsed and died before the first race.

The two horses – Fenix Two, trained by Jonjo O’Neill, and Marching Song, trained by Andrew Turnell – both collapsed within yards of each other in the parade ring. Although a final cause has not been determined there is increasing evidence to suggest that both horses may have suffered electric shocks from a cable running under the paddock.
