Geraghty entering decisive times?
Last week Barry Geraghty said that he was facing a tough choice between riding either Punjabi or Zaynar in next month’s Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.
His loyalty to Punjbai, on whom he won last year’s Champion, is understandable but may yet be tested sooner than the jockey thought. Nicky Henderson has entered Punjabi for the Kingwell Hurdle at Wincanton on Saturday but also has star novice chaser Punchestowns as a possible runner for the Reynoldstown Novices’ Chase at Ascot on the same afternoon.
As the races are separated by 90 miles and only 95 minutes Geraghty may have to make a choice sooner than he planned.

Wanted: top-flight hurdler. Must be resident in mainland Britain. Senior position available for right applicant. A little fanciful perhaps however, runners for this weekend’s two Champion Hurdle trials are looking thin on the ground. Donald McCain had both Peddlers Cross and Overturn entered for the William Hill Welsh Champion Hurdle, although Peddlers Cross was more [...]
