Are the BHA punching their weight?
The former champion jockey may yet decide to pursue a civil action and, at a time when racing is attempting to cultivate an attractive image with a broader section of the public, these are not the headlines the sport needed.
Doubtless some will regard the fine as excessive and others will believe that the ban is too lenient. The only certainty is that a precedent has been set. But will it have the desired effect?
